Goldrush: Making Moves Vol. 4

It’s the middle of the afternoon and I’m watching The Voice on demand. I have no clue why, as I can ever remember who wins and when my favorites are eliminated, I usually bore soon after. But as the usual sob stories play on, I mute it to listen to the fourth volume of the Making Moves series by Goldrush. It seems Golden Mixtape’s ears perk up with the even number of this series because back in May we featured Brick + Mortar’s Vol. 2. This time around we’re getting Goldrush’s flavor of indie pop and 70’s funk on their take on the Making Moves world.

Compared to the rest of the record, “The Dream is Over” never allows one to wake up.  So it’s suggested that listeners get up with “Settle Down.” This one played like a lost track from a 70’s mixtape. It’s indie music wearing a funky fringe vest. The other track that stood out, “REX.” For this one Goldrush stripped off the groove and replaced it with a pop fix. It’s fitting this song is on a record titled Making Moves because it will indeed get you dancing and if it doesn’t, check your ears.

Members of Motion City Soundtrack partnered with Drexel University’s MAD Dragon Records to set out and release music by up and coming and are continuing their mission with Goldrush’s Making Moves Vol. 4. Fans of Foster the People and The Black and White Years will be interested in checking out Goldrush and all they have to offer, including Making Moves Vol. 4, out now.
