This is the first day in a long time that I haven’t woken up, blogged about celebrity gossip and trudged back to sleep. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t stay up till 3am. Bright and early (for me) I’m sitting here reading over what The Runaround had to collectively say about this and that. Imagine and interview that literally asked things like, “What do you think of this?” The artist would be left wondering what “this” was for the rest of their life.
Luckily there was more substance to “this” and the boys of The Runaround discussed everything from prom nights to accepting the idea of evolving their sound as time went on since they’ve already grown from their EP to their latest Without All The Weight. So keep on reading on for more of this and a lot of that.
Kendra: What was your first logical goal when you started the band?
The Runaround: Our first goal when starting the band was to take plenty of time to write and record music that we loved to play; in hopes that fans would love it as much as we do.
Kendra: With goals comes doubt, so were there any initial concerns when The Runaround started that are now either gone or still present?
The Runaround: The way that the band works for us is to try and let things go with the flow. Since the band started there have been no ongoing concerns. Mostly because of the way we are as people and as a band. Everything seems to works its self out.
Kendra: Let’s talk music. If your latest Without All The Weight was going to be featured in the big prom/dance scene in a teen movie, which would it be most fitting for? Yes, we’re assuming the dance would be extended to about 40 minutes of the film haha.
The Runaround: If Without All The Weight was going to be featured in a prom/dance scene in a movie we think it would fit best in Back To The Future! We all love that movie and especially the prom scene!
Kendra: You just released Without All The Weight not too long ago, so are you even thinking about recording a new one anytime soon?
The Runaround: We’re constantly writing new material, it’s just our thing! So we do have some songs done but we don’t think well be in the studio anytime soon. Who knows though!
Kendra: If so, what are some things you might do different the next time around?
The Runaround: We’re not too sure if we’d do anything differently. We usually just write what comes out. As of now the writing process has been the same, so we don’t see it changing anytime soon.
Kendra: The album is said to reflect “a person is who they are based on everything life has thrown in their direction.” So what kind of person would you say you are?
The Runaround: An honest answer would be very hard to sum up in a few sentences. To keep it short, we’re all just musicians trying to fulfill our dreams of writing and playing music for fans. All the ups and downs that come along with that have molded us into the people we are today.
Kendra: You’re pretty okay playing over on the east coast since that’s home, so spill…What are some rumors you’ve heard when it comes to playing on the west coast?
The Runaround: We haven’t really heard any rumors of playing on the west coast. Except that is has a HUGE music scene! So hopefully that’s true!
Kendra: In the spirit of “Annie Can’t Wear Heels To Prom,” what are five essential songs that all prom mixtapes must have?
